
Martin Casado

Martin was the co-founder and CTO at Nicira, which VMware acquired for $1.26 billion in 2012. At VMware, he became Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Networking and Security Business Unit, scaling it to a $600 million run-rate by 2016. Martin began his career at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, working on defense projects, and later with the intelligence community on networking and cybersecurity. This experience inspired his work at Stanford, where he helped create the Software-Defined Networking (SDN) paradigm and co-founded Illuminics Systems, later acquired by Quova.
